Centerpiece Sales
Centerpieces are a great addition to your event. They help to set the theme, add some visual stimulation and they can even be an additional revenue source. So often we talk to committee members who have spent weeks discussing as a committee how to monetize their centerpieces and yet rarely are they going to yield you more than a couple of hundred dollars. So here are some simple ideas that will allow you to spend your time on donor cultivation and relieve the time spent on centerpiece sales.
This isn’t ever going to be a giant money generator so don’t spend a lot of time planning centerpiece sales, but here are the quickest easiest ways to raise a little money from centerpieces.
Direct Sale
Simply put a note in the centerpiece that says, “Take Me Home” with a price tag on the centerpiece.
Have the emcee announce at the end of the event if you would like a centerpiece that you can take one home for $20 (or what ever price you deem appropriate). Instruct guests to simply take it to check out so that they can be charged for their purchase.]
Centerpiece Auction
As a kick off to start your live auction, have the auctioneer lead a little engagement game for your guests.
The auctioneer will ask each table host or one person at each table to stand. Once every table has someone standing the auctioneer will advise the audience that the person standing is going to have the opportunity to be an auctioneer. They are going to auction off the centerpiece to one lucky guest at the table.
The catch is that the guest goes home with a centerpiece and the table auctioneer who sells the centerpiece for the highest amount of money wins a prize like an overnight getaway. Give the table auctioneers one minute. Have a recording sheet on each table for the table auctioneer to log the bidders number and amount.
Volunteers should pick up the sheets while your emcee and auctioneer find the highest seller in the room and award the prize.
Volunteer Thank You
A centerpiece can be a fun take away for your volunteers and can be a quick and good way to earn goodwill.
