Why a Video?
Videos are a great way to tell stories. Stories of change. Stories of complicated organizational structures and programs. Stories of decades of work. Stories of celebration. At events they are also a fantastic way to guide guests into focusing on the program. There are a few different kinds of videos that you can use at your events to effectively speak to your work and engage your audience. We’ve collected some good examples of special appeal videos, organizational videos and anniversary videos.
Special Appeal Videos
The special appeal is your largest fundraising opportunity at your event. Utilizing video is a great way to really focus on the key story of transformation your are telling and position your organization as the change agent who helped an individual get from where they were to the improved place they are now. Video allows you to control the ‘ums’ and ‘ahs’ and the nerves of being onstage in front of a crowd and let your speaker shine.

Organizational Videos
Your organization is a sophisticated resource, likely with many different programs and methods that come together to create the impact that you do. Telling the story of what it is that you do and how you do it can be complicated. Video is a great way to simplify the story and tell it in a compelling way. Especially if you pull them in from the beginning with WHY it is that your organization does its great work.

Sometimes finding a budget for an outside video producer isn’t possible. But this doesn’t mean you can’t have a video. It is possible to take still pictures that you already have, add text to tell your story and, fairly quickly with a simple video program, you can put together a piece that will accomplish the same thing. Here’s an example of a video done that way.

Anniversary Videos
Milestone anniversaries are a great opportunity to tell the story of how you began and what you’ve done over that period of time. There’s no way to include EVERYTHING, so the trick is to show your evolution in a way that connects your audience to the roots of your work and wows them with all that you’ve helped make happen over that period of time.
